<span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">OUR WATER: CHALLENGES &amp; SOLUTIONS<\/span><\/h2><p>This is a <strong>free<\/strong> event but <strong>registration is required<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/our-water-challenges-solutions-tickets-1983988498005?aff=oddtdtcreator\">Click here to register<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p>In an announcement made on December 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 2025, the Region of Waterloo identified a <strong>water capacity issue<\/strong> resulting from population growth and aging infrastructure.\u00a0 The issue is within the Mannheim Service Area which supplies water to Kitchener, Waterloo, parts of Cambridge, as well as Woolwich and Wilmot Townships.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p>To help our community understand what this means and what can be done, we invite you to join us as we host a <strong>free<\/strong> event, <strong>\u201cOur Water: Challenges &amp; Solutions\u201d<\/strong> on Tuesday, <strong>April 21<sup>st<\/sup><\/strong> from <strong>7:00 to 9:00 p.m.<\/strong> (Eastern Daylight Savings Time) at <strong>Zion United Church<\/strong>, 215 Peel Street, New Hamburg. <strong>This event will also be live streamed<\/strong> for those who are not able to attend in person.<\/p><p>Our keynote speaker is <strong>Dr. Hugh Simpson <\/strong>who has over 30 years of experience\u00a0working as a hydrogeologist in\u00a0provincial and regional municipal governments\u00a0focusing on the management and protection of groundwater resources.\u00a0 His work included technical review and guidance to better manage and protect local groundwater resources throughout rural portions of the\u00a0<strong>Regional Municipality of Waterloo <\/strong>from 1992 to 2000.\u00a0 During this time, he was also involved with gravel pit proposals, privately serviced housing, and stormwater issues.\u00a0<\/p><p>Topics that will be discussed include:<\/p><ul><li>A review of where Wilmot &amp; Wellesley Townships currently get their water.<\/li><li>A summary of the water capacity issue that the Region of Waterloo identified and its potential impact on the residents of Wilmot &amp; Wellesley Townships.<\/li><li>Why this issue occurred.<\/li><li>What is being done and\/or what can be done to resolve this issue.<\/li><li>Potential water conservation strategies\u00a0for municipalities.<\/li><li>Water conservation tips &amp;
